More block lets you truncate your blog entries so that only the first part of a post is displayed on blog and archive pages.
To add a more block, click on the
⊕ Block Inserter icon and select the More block.
Alternatively, you can start typing
/more in a new paragraph block, then press enter.
When you insert this block, a link will be placed directly after your excerpt, pointing the reader to the full post. You can put this link anywhere in a post, and customize it to say whatever you want.
You can edit the Read More text that appears by clicking in the middle of the dashed lines, feel free to delete the default text and type anything you want.
Although most blocks come with unique and block-specific controls, the more block is pretty straightforward, and only has the “More Options” control available to config.
Clicking on the ⚙ cog icon next to the publish button will toggle the visibility of this panel.
This option is disabled by default, and it’s recommended to leave it off if you would like to display the content that appears before the more block on the full post once the user clicks on the Read More button.
By enabling “Hide the excerpt (teaser)” option, the content that appears before more block will not display on the full post once the user clicks on the Read More button.
